Batmitzvah, Batmitzvah and Weddings

Shir Hama’alot

On Shabbat, Festivals and Festive occasions, we start Grace After meals with Psalm 126.

Introduction to Grace

We invite everyone to say Grace together, using this special opening format. For a Wedding a full minion of 10 males is required (A Mezuman).

Grace After Meals

Our ancestors were given a command to bless Hashem for their food whilst still in the desert.

The first blessing is known as Birkat Hamazon.

Sheva Berachot

All Sheva Berachot

After a Wedding Feast , a second cup of Wine is filled and Bride and Groom are blessed with six special blessings . The final blessing (seventh) is made over Wine. The first and second cup of wine are then moixed, drunk by the person who lead grace and then shared with the Bride and Groom.

It is customary for Distinguished Guests, Close family and friends to be honoured and asked to recite one of the Sheva Brochas blessings to the Bride and Groom. This unique facility will allow you to down load a Brocha and send it to one of the participants to learn the correct tune for the public blessing of the Bride and Groom.

First Beracha

Blessed are you – the lord our God, King of the universe, who has created everything for His glory.

Second Beracha

Blessed are you – the Lord our God, King of the universe, Creator of mankind.

Third Beracha

Blessed are you – the Lord our God, King of the universe, who made man in His image, in the image of his likeness, and out of his body formed the woman, the eternal structure of reproduction. Blessed are You – the Lord Creator of mankind.

Fourth Beracha

May the barren one (Zion) greatly rejoice and exult as her children return to her in joy. Blessed are You – the Lord who causes Zion to rejoice through her children.

Fifth Beracha

Great joy to these loving companions, even as of old You gladdened Your first creatures in the Garden of Eden. Blessed are You – the Lord who gives joy to the bridegroom and bride.

Sixth Beracha

Blessed are You – the Lord our God, King of the universe, who created joy and gladness, bridegroom and bride, mirth and song, jubilation and merriment, love, brotherhood, peace and fellowship. Soon, O Lord our God, may there be heard in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, voiced of joy and gladness, voices of the bridegroom and bride, the jubilant voices of bridegrooms from their bridal canopy, and of young people feasting and singing. Blessed are You – the Lord, who makes the bridegroom rejoice with the bride.

Seventh Beracha

Blessed are You – the Lord our God, King of the universe, who creates the fruit of the vine.
